The ARSTY Card

Ok so I was up visiting my new friends at ARTSY Stamps and Paper in Loveland last week, and boy did I get a tutorial!  Patsy clearly had had far tooooo much caffine and she was excited to show me the fun new things she does with Tim Holtz Adirondack Color Wash Spray inks, and of course I got sucked into it.  FOR 2 HOURS!

Patsy was kind enough to sell me, not 1, not 2, but 6 ink colors (I had to have them right?), so now I am going to show off my stuff. With a little inspiration from my friend Gerri in Phoenix I was headed toward a fabulous card.  Gerri gave me to the idea to stamp on those white tiny Avery tab sticker labels that you can get from Office depot or staples.  (If you don't know which stickers I am referring to, there is a photo later in the blog).

So here it goes.

I got out the trusted box I had picked up from the paint center of home depot for spraying, just like Patsy suggested and lined it with a plastic bag and paper towels.

Now on to the good stuff... I took the Avery® White Removable Rectangular Labels 6107 and laid them flat in the box and began the spraying technique.

Step 1.  Mist with water
Step 2.  Mist with color
Step 3.  Mist with more color
Step 4.  Patsy says MORE color!
Step 5.  Mist with Pearlize color

I used my newTim Holtz Adirondack Color Wash Sprays - Stream, Denim and Lettuce for the base. Then a dash of Perfect Pearls Mist - Sunflower Sparkle to give it just what it needed!

Step 6.  Set and dry with my heat embossing tool.
Step 7.  Stamp until you are happy.  I used the Feelin Fishy set from Recollections.

NOTE:  Use a high contract ink color for your stamping.  I tried several colors and while I thought white would have been the right one, it turned out that Silver was the color with the most contrast.

Now for the "catch"... how do you get those dang stickers off the sticker sheet and on your card?

Step 8.  After your ink has dried, place your sticker sheet face down on a Cricut, Silhouette or other self adhesive die cutting mat.
Step 9.  Use your hands or a brayer to really get the paper to stick to the mat.
Step 10.  Pull back every so carefully on the sticker sheet releasing the stickers as they stick to the adhesive mat.

Now my friend in Phoenix doesn't use an adhesive mat, she uses removeable shelf liner, but I found that to be a bit toooo sticky!

Step 11.  Place your cardstock over the stickers
Step 12.  Using your hands or a brayer press down to adhear to the stickers.
Step 13.  Carefully pull away from the adhesive mat, trim around the stickers
Step 14.  Use the handy dandy Tim Holtz Tonic destressing tool for the edges and.... VOILA!

I used complementing colors of cardstock for the base of the stickers and the card itself, then tied a piece of twine around the top to give it some texture and DONE!

Now if you think that was hard it.. it was!  The first time anyway.  It did get easier as I did more of them, but I think it was worth it, enjoy!

Just a little thank you note...

Ok, so I decided I was going to whip out 10 thank you cards (all different of course) at about 2pm Sunday afternoon.  Needless to say, THAT didn't happen.  As it happens I was inspired to get one (and several duplicates for card exchange) completed.

This cute little card is made on Kraft cardstock using "The Green Stack" paper pack.
In addition, I cut out a sweet little owl and branch using my Silhouette.
A quick run through my Fiskars cut/emboss border punch and some thank you ribbon left over from another project....poof!
An adorable thank you card!

Next I am going to try out a great technique I learned from the fabulous gals at ARSTY Stamps in Fort Collins.  Can't wait!
